FOD: La cuenta atrás

Galería Juan Silió presents the second solo exhibition in Madrid of the artist FOD. His work is a circular journey from painting to sculpture, crossed by a direct dialogue with architecture, geometry, line and symmetry. A proposal in which the most elementary constructions are seen as a refuge always possible and in which color serves as a playful and abstract tale. Under this premise a constant interest in the theory of numbers appears as a geometric principle but also as an element of play which, in this case, also articulates the exhibition.

La cuenta atrás –The countdown– is constructed in different stations. Each of them corresponds to a number, in a countdown from 9 to 0, interpreted in different ways and using different techniques and formats. With the idea of multiple always in mind, he shows shapes, folds and voids on a different scale, but to which the artist confers the same value. As usual in his work, he gives the same importance to each constructive element and approaches each material with the same interest and respect, giving each one of them its own space and presence, equalising their nature. A gaze that is predominantly born from sculpture to generate works that, regardless of the support, speak of possible dreamed architectures.

FOD (Francisco Olivares Díaz) born in Puerto Lumbreras in 1973, is currently an artist in residence at the Spanish Academy in Rome. In addition to the numerous solo and group exhibitions in which he has participated, he has produced outstanding installations such as: Nave invertida at Tabacalera Madrid during the exhibition Tentativas para agotar un espacio, Zona de obras-Chabolas de lujo in Cartagena, Refugio para un paseante at Fundación Cerezales in León or the work exhibited next to the Cathedral of Murcia, entitled Estructura Nómada. Since 2003 he has been regularly present at fairs and biennials such as ARCO Madrid and Lisbon, Manifesta 8, Artissima, Maco, SP Arte and Volta (NY and Basel).  His work is represented in collections such as Estampa Collection, Cajamadrid Collection, Polanco Collection, Banco de España, DKV Collection, Kells Collection, Ministry of Culture, Explum Arte Contemporáneo, Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection, Helsinki, Finland, Mariano Yera Collection, Lima Collection, Oporto, Colección ACB or Colección Navacerrada.
