ARCOLisboa: NUNO NUNES-FERREIRA
Cordoaria Nacional
Avda. da Índia s/n.
Lisboa
17th – 20th May, 2018
Juan Silió Gallery is participating in ARCOlisboa international fair, by showing a Nuno Nunes-Ferreira’s solo project (Lisboa, 1976). In this third edition, the fair, which has an international profile, is getting consolidated as one of the most important artistic events in Portugal by broadening the exhibitions area and disseminating the Portuguese artistic scene. The fair will be taking place, at the 18th Century historical building of Cordoaria Nacional.
As is the costume in his work, Nuno Nunes-Ferreira tackles silence, memory, fight, symbols and the truth, reeling off with perspicacity the history of Portugal and showing a special concern about showing the processes of change. Furthermore, these pieces created in the last years are also assembled with interpretations closed to the concept of journey, far from leisure descriptions but linked with geographical ties. The word ‘freedom’ is both enthroned and shaken by the artist with the aim of report to the public and create a debate centred about the processes of information blocking.
