ARTBO 2018

ARTBO 2018: CARLOS IRIJALBA, JUAN LÓPEZ
Booth: C25

Juan Silió Gallery is participating for the first time in ARTBO international art fair, one of the most important art fairs in Latin America, which will be taking place in Bogotá, Colombia. Galleries from 19 different countries are taking part in 2018’s edition, which is its fourteenth one.
In this very first participation, pieces by two of the most internationally renowned Spanish young artists will be shown: Carlos Irijalba (Pamplona, Spain, 1979) and Juan López (Alto Maliaño, Spain, 1979).
The hand print of the Human Being upon the earth is such a thing for geologists to have got to considered it a new geolical phase called Anthropocene. The changes produced within this epoch happen in very short periods of time and are characterised by having purpose and a design. Conversely, lifeless and slow, natural changes have transformed the enviroment for no other reason than its own ocurrence. Precisely, Carlos Irijalba compares these almost antagonic ways of the passage of geological time, antagonizing recent human modification to the natural one happended over hundred of thousand years. Juan lopez, by contrast, looks internally the incidence of Anthropocene by using resources and materials of human creation and the visual intervention on facilities from urban lanscapes. Both artists dig in the transmuting and communicative roll of the human being and directly or undirectly, on its influence above the geolocial and biological setting surrounding him.
